The AI Vendor Accountability Checklist

Two-page working checklist

An AI system that arrives through a platform agreement, a franchisor or sponsor mandate, or a module a vendor switched on by default takes over its function the day it goes live. Review authority, halt authority, and named accountability transfer only if someone builds them. This checklist gives operators and procurement leaders ten questions to find out which of those exist. It is an operating framework, not legal advice.

  • Page 1 Items 1 to 5: inventory, mandate source, the role map under EU AI Act Article 50 and Fannie Mae Lender Letter LL-2026-04, the two owner types kept separate, and the halt and fallback path.
  • Page 2 Items 6 to 10: output review, vendor governance parity, the disclosure package, contract gaps to raise at renewal, and a one-line board statement of residual exposure. Plus how to complete a page for one system in about forty minutes.
